Winter Wedding Photography Inspiration {Muskoka Wedding Photography)

Muskoka Wedding Photography Winter

I adore winter weddings.  They can be so much fun!  Don't be afraid to get cold, and I promise you we won't let your dress get dirty.

Claudia and Mark, in the photo above, were married years ago at The Northridge Inn & Resort, and it's still one of my favourite examples of rocking a winter wedding in Muskoka.  Mark & Claudia were married on the pier above in an outdoor ceremony, with their family and friends surrounding them.  Everyone, including the bride, bundled up.  Hand warmers and blankets were given out.  I'm not going to lie, it was a cold day in March - but as soon as the wedding itself started, no one noticed the weather.    They were too busy paying attention to Claudia and Mark, standing on a frozen lake, saying their vows in a way that was so true to them.

Northridge Inn Wedding Muskoka - Heather and Eric

It wasn't exactly how they planned - their family and friends were there, it was relaxed and low key, it was sunny ... but it was windy.  Windier than it's been in a long time.  The chairs along the long dock of their ceremony site almost blew away.  Hair got messed up.  Programs took off in the wind.  But Heather didn't care.  The windy walk down that dock barely registered as she focused on the man waiting for her at the end.

Not only is the dock at the Northridge Inn and Resort in Muskoka one of my favourite ceremony spots, but the owners and staff are some of the friendliest I've come across.  They do my favourite kind of weddings exceptionally well - relaxed, laid back and natural, making it easy to concentrate on the reason for being there.  That's what matters.

As always, Terry from Scotia Entertainment was the only DJ for the job.  Who else could easily manage multiple rooms AND a ceremony on a fifty foot dock on an insanely windy day?

Congratulations, Heather & Eric!

Claudia & Mark - Northridge Inn, March 14 2009

A lot of people think being a wedding photographer is just one main season of work, but let me tell you - winter weddings can be just as beautiful as summer weddings! Maybe not as warm, but definitely just as beautiful - if not more so.

Claudia & Mark were married on a crisp sunny day at the Northridge Inn in Sundridge, On - a small town between Huntsville & North Bay, in one of my favourite areas of Ontario (I think I'll always be a small town girl at heart, I miss being able to see the stars at night!).

Braving the extremely chilly wind, the gorgeous couple were married on a dock over the frozen Bernard Lake, and their ceremony included translation for Cluadia's German heritage. After the ceremony, we ducked in and out of the warm lodge to take some pictures, and it was definitely worth the cold cheeks!

Claudia & Mark, thank you for including me in such an incredible day of celebration - both of love, and of family!
