Guelph Engagement Session - Elissa and Tyler

Guelph Wedding Photographer

There's a saying about the best laid plans, and I find more often than not, it's true.  You can plan everything, every detail right down to the smallest of things.  There's nothing wrong with planning.  Nothing at all.  The trick is being able to roll with the punches after something small (or large) goes awry with those plans.  Not only can this be kept in mind for weddings, but for engagement sessions as well.

Tyler proposed to Elissa at a local farm, and the couple had their heart set on having engagement photos taken there, and Elissa planned everything perfectly.  When that location didn't work out at the last minute, the three of us scrambled to find another location or two.  Although Tyler & Elissa were disappointed, they rolled with the punches, and we found other great spots to use, like the University of Guelph Arboretum and Nauman's Farm.

I can only imagine that this is a perfect example of how their wedding will go - planning the details to a T, but remembering that it's not the details that count, it's the experience.   Congratulations Elissa & Tyler - I can't wait for your wedding!

Battlefield House Museum Wedding, Hamilton - Ashley and Wes

Battlefield House Museum Wedding Hamilton

Ashley & Wes didn't let a little cold weather get in the way of their Battlefield House Museum wedding in Hamilton, that's for sure.  Although they kept their guests comfort in mind and moved their ceremony indoors, the couple quickly moved outside for photos.

I'm a big believer in giving my couples their space, and had Ashley and Wes spend a lot of quiet time together just the two of them.  While they were able to take a breath and reflect, talk about the day, and enjoy the moment, I snapped away as discreetly as possible.

Thank you so much, Ashley and Wes, for asking me to be a part of your intimate Battlefield House Museum wedding!

Elsie Perrin Williams Estate Wedding - Liz and Sean

elsie perrin williams estate wedding

It's easy to get lost in the chaos of planning a wedding. There's so many details, so many little choices that come up, so many things to do that take up too much of your time.  Friends and family arriving from all over the world, so many people to catch up with, so many loved ones to talk to.  Everything becomes a blur.

Liz & Sean knew this would happen.  They expected it, planned for it.  So after their gorgeous outdoor ceremony at Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, they set aside time for just the two of them to slip away for photos.  Just the two of them, walking through the woods, catching up.  Talking.  Laughing.  Catching their breath.  Enjoying their moment.

Sean & Liz, thank you so much for the honour of choosing me to tag along during such personal moments.  You, and your families, really made us feel like old friends.

Windermere Manor Wedding, London ON - Sara & Des

It's not just about the dress, the shoes, the veil.  It's not just about the gorgeous venue, the cake or the food.  Weddings are about a bride and groom, surrounded by loved ones - friends and family that have travelled from near and far to be witnesses to such an important day.  Whether you have two guests or two hundred, a wedding isn't about the stuff - it's about the people.

Sara & Des were married on the patio of Windermere Manor in London, ON, surrounded by their families and loved ones.  It was a gorgeous, sunny day, but I'm not sure if Des even noticed - he could see nothing but Sara, and his feelings for her were written all over his face the entire day.  During their ceremony, he was so impatient to kiss Sara he was actually fidgeting.  The image of the two of them with their heads together, both impatiently waiting to be allowed that first kiss, is probably one of my favourite ceremony images in a long time.

Congratulations, Sara & Des!  Thank you so much for asking me to be a part of your Windermere Manor wedding.
